Kansas Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (KSFMNP)

This program provides fresh, nutritious, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey from farmers’ markets, roadside stands and community supported agriculture programs to low-income seniors via checks that can be exchanged for eligible foods at farmers’ markets, roadside stands, and community supported agriculture (CSA) programs.

For purposes of this program, low-income seniors are generally defined as individuals who are at least 60 years old and who have household incomes of not more than 185% of the Federal poverty income guidelines.   KSFMNP Information Link

Eligibility

The Kansas Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition program qualifies eligible Kansas seniors who are:

  • 60 years of age and meet income eligibility guidelines (see chart below) or
  • 55 years of age and a member of an Indian Tribal Organization and meet income eligibility guidelines.

Benefits are distributed individually, meaning any others in your household also meeting the eligibility guidelines may apply for and receive their own benefits.

If You Qualify

You will receive a booklet of ten (10), $5 coupons for a one-time annual benefit of $50 to purchase eligible foods from authorized farmers.

Proxy Form

Seniors may appoint someone else (Proxy) to pick up their coupons for them. The proxy form is for a senior who is unable to shop for themselves, due to disability or lack of transportation and must designate someone to assist them with using their KSFMNP benefits on their behalf.

A PROXY means an individual authorized by an eligible senior to act on the senior’s behalf, including receipt of KSFMNP coupons and use of KSFMNP coupons at authorized outlets, as long as the KSFMNP benefits are ultimately received by the eligible senior.
